Description
Malambe (Chichewa for baobab) is situated on the sandy beach of Lake Malawi right in the heart of Cape Maclear and offers camping, beach hut and dorm accommodation at great prices.
We have a cool bar overlooking the lake towards Thumbe Island serving all drinks (ice cold of course) and a restaurant serving breakfast lunch and dinner.
For those who wish to self cater - our large spotlessly clean kitchen is fully equipped with all that is needed to cook up a delicious dinner.
The village market is a short walk away and has all that you would expect to find in a local market. Watch out for the early morning fisherman as they come in with their catches - a variety of fresh fish which is great for the BBQ.
Malambe is also trying to be environmentally friendly and uses solar power for hot water and for some lighting.
Other services at Malambe include wifi internet access, laundry, boat trips, village tours and free use of snorkelling equipment.
Be warned - those who stay find it very hard to leave!

Directions
From Monkey Bay jump onto the back of a pickup truck for the last 17km down to Cape Maclear.
You will find us in the heart of the village - just tell the driver to drop you off at Malambe and he will stop outside the gate.
